Allowed Foods in the Liver Cleanse Diet

Puristat first developed the liver cleanse diet. It uses supplements in the program and the dieter must avoid specific foods. The diet stresses organic and all natural foods over processed foods and fruits and vegetables that may contain chemicals. During this diet all the chemicals in the liver will empty from the body, helping the dieter lose weight and feel great.

Refined Carbohydrates

    Try to avoid refined carbohydrates as these constitute processed foods. Stay away from crackers, cakes, cookies, pasta and white flour.

Soft Drinks

    Soft drinks contain high amounts of sugar and phosphorus, and cause the blood to go slightly acidic. The blood reactions make your liver work harder.

Fruit Juices

    Stay away from fruit juices that contain high fructose corn syrup. Corn syrup causes blood sugar to spike. If you want to drink fruit juice, then go all natural or eat the actual fruit.

Fast Food and Junk Food

    Fast food and junk food include deep fried foods. These contain unhealthy fats that can harm the body.

Preservatives

    Avoid foods that contain food colorings, additives and other preservatives. The diet suggests that if you cannot pronounce the ingredient's name, then avoid it. Artificial sweeteners and monosodium glutamate cause harm to the liver.

Shellfish

    Avoid shellfish because of the mercury levels in the fish. Mercury is very toxic and can build up over time. Tuna, mackerel and swordfish also contain high amounts of mercury. In addition, farm-raised fish may contain antibiotics and chemicals that you should avoid.

Processed Meat

    Processed meats, which include luncheon meat, hot dogs and bacon, all contain nitrates and preservatives that you need to avoid on a liver cleanse diet.

Caffeine

    You can consume caffeine in moderation. It can help the liver detox the body. However, high-caffeine products usually come loaded with sugar. Limit the amount of coffee and other caffeinated foods. If you really want caffeine, then drink tea.
