Diet Programs to Lose Weight by Eating More

Obesity affects far too many adults, whether directly or indirectly. That's why there are so many diet programs and weight loss pills being advertised on nearly every commercial break, magazine and billboards. The truth is, there is no such thing as a magic pill or special sauce that will make you look like a model. Healthy diet plans and exercise are the only things that will actually take the weight off and keep it off.

Combination Diets

The Six Week Body Make Over, The Skinny Switch and the Food Lover's Fat Loss System are all diets which claim you can eat more and lose weight. These diets are combination diets. These diets state that certain foods eaten together will boost your metabolism and increase weight loss.

For example each meal should contain one starch, one protein, one fruit and one vegetable. You often are allowed a variety of foods, though some diets strictly limit or eliminate certain foods. For example if your are a "B" woman on the 6 week body makeover, you shouldn't eat red meat.

Combination diets require a lot of planning. Portion control is a must. Many experts believe the weight lost on these diets is because of the reduced caloric intake, not the combination of foods. There is no scientific proof that combining certain foods increases your metabolism.

Vegetarian Diets

There are other diets that also advertise you can eat more and lose weight. These include the vegetarian diets Dean Ornish's Eat More, Weigh Less and The Raw Food Diet. Many people swear by these diets, but people have also been known to gain weight on vegetarian and raw food diets. And if you are a meat lover, you'll soon grow tired of these plans.

The Truth

The truth is, with any healthy food plan, or diet, you most likely will eat more while you are losing weight. The reason is, you will learn how to eat healthy. Healthy foods tend to have less calories, and be more filling. For instance, an apple has only seventy calories, yet a candy bar has nearly three hundred calories. The best thing you can do to remain healthy and boost your metabolism is to eat four to six smaller, healthier meals per day spread out, rather than two or three larger meals. Food fuels your body and actually makes your metabolism work. Therefore, make food work for you and not against you.

Healthy Diets

A healthy diet will consists of all of the food groups. No food or food group is banned. Any food can be eat at any given time with any other food that you so desire. Desserts and treats are allowed. Healthy diets allow for all of this - in moderation. The key is to eat a variety of foods that you enjoy. If you want a piece of cake for dessert, then cut down on your meat and potato portions. Healthy diets usually always recommend some kind of exercise. This is because exercise builds muscle. The more muscle you have, the more you can eat while you are losing weight.
