Quick-Cleanse Detox Diets

While there are numerous detoxification diets doing the rounds today, nothing can be shorter than a diet that lasts only one day. The simple 24-hour detox diet aims to cleanse your system of toxic substances, provide you with energy and leave you feeling better. This is especially effective and beneficial after a period of over-eating, drinking or straining.

Breakfast

    The main thing to remember about breakfast is to consume less. If your stomach feels about half full, you should stop eating or drinking and rest your system. Start your day with a handful of almonds and wash it down with a tall glass of cool pomegranate juice. While the almonds will provide you with energy from calories from all the necessary proteins, fats, and oils, the pomegranate juice will begin the first of the detoxifying actions, being one of the strongest antioxidant foods known.

Mid-Morning Snack

    Because your breakfast had not been too heavy, you might feel hungry around mid-morning. Now you can have a little bit of tofu with one medium-sized bowl of brown rice mixed with soy sauce. The tofu will provide the protein, while the brown rice, apart from being an antioxidant, will supply vitamins and minerals that the body will be able to absorb easily. Wash it all down with one glass of water.

Lunch

    The antioxidant effect of pomegranate juice has to be brought back for lunch. Have one glass full of it. For the main meal, have a mixed green salad with an olive oil dressing, salt and wine vinegar. Have as much as you need to fill your stomach, as the greens will provide the bulk to satiate your hunger while providing essential vitamins, minerals and roughage.

Mid-Day Snack

    This meal should be the same as the first meal of the day or breakfast, consisting of one tall glass of pomegranate juice for antioxidants and a handful of raw almonds for energy. Even now, fill your stomach to only half full.

Dinner

    This last meal of the detoxification day should be the smallest. Have a full bowl of brown rice and the last glass of pomegranate juice, both for their detoxifying effects.

General Measures

    Follow this diet only once in a while and never on a day-to-day basis. Have only pomegranate juice and water and no other drink like tea, coffee or other beverages. Avoid smoking as much you can. To rouse healthy blood circulation, take a hot bath at the beginning and end of the day and take a long steam bath if possible during the day. Walk or run or exercise for at least three-quarters of an hour at some time during the day.
