HCG Diet & Wine

The HCG diet combines a low-calorie diet with regular administration of HCG, or Human Chorionic Gonadotropin, a hormone found in large amounts in pregnant women that controls the metabolism. Research suggests that a small dosage, about 125 to 200 international units (IUs), of HCG, combined with a low calorie intake, can contribute to weight loss. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Menu

Being on the HCG diet requires adherence to a very strict diet regimen. The HCG diet recommends eating food that expends more calories to digest than are actually in the foods, raw foods and foods high in alkalinity (a more base pH level). Wine has a more acidic pH, if wine loses its acidity, it becomes flat and dull tasting, and is neither a food that expends more calories to digest than it contains, nor is it considered a raw food.

Weight

During the initial weight loss phase of the diet regimen, when eating may raw vegetables that are very starchy, it is not advisable to have wine. As soon as starches or fats, even healthy fats, are combined with alcohol, weight gain can occur and results will not be as they should be.

Maintenance

The HCG diet allows for a glass of wine during the maintenance phase of the diet, when one stops dosing themselves with HCG and begins to try to maintain their weight loss. However, it is not recommended during the initial phases because it does not fit into the categories of food the HCG diet recommends.

Reception

The HCG diet promotes low calorie eating, which can be dangerous for many people, especially very active people. Consult with your doctor before embarking on the HCG diet, and be careful when drinking on an empty stomach; it is easier to become ill after drinking on an empty stomach.
