How to Cook Beef Kidney

Beef kidney can make a delicious hearty meal. Cooking kidney can be intimidating if it is your first time. There are many things you can do with this ingredient, the most popular being a kidney meat pie.     Slice most of the fat off the kidney. Leave some fat on, as this will add extra flavor as well as aid in cooking. Chop the rest of the kidney into 1/2-inch pieces and set aside.

    Chop the onion into small pieces. If you like large chunks of onion, you can do it that way as well. Mince the garlic or put it in a garlic press if you have one. Mix these together in a small bowl.

    Put 2 tbsp. of butter into a skillet. Set the stove to medium heat and let the butter melt. Add the garlic and onion to the butter and cook it until it starts to turn brown.

    Add the kidney to the skillet and let it cook for about 5 minutes. Once the color is an even brown it is finished. Be careful not to cook it for too long, as overcooked kidney can be rubbery.
